   Biography and professional activities:

1952 – born in Moscow;.

1974 – graduated from the Faculty of Geography, Moscow State University (МГУ);

1974-1977 – post-graduate course at the Department of Bio-Geography, Faculty of Geography, Moscow State University;

1978 – defend thesis for Ph. D. degree (“Geographical Distribution and Using of Wildlife Resources in Yenisey Taiga”);

1978-1983 – researcher in the Department of the North, State Institute for Nature conservation and Reserves, Moscow (ВНИИ Природа МСХ СССР);

1980-1981 –Faculty of Retraining of the Researchers of Moscow Physical and Engineering Institute (МФТИ);

1983 – left Moscow for Saint-Petersburg;

1983-1995 – senior Researcher in the Department of the Northern Problems in the Institute of Rural Economy of the North-West Region of Russia (НИЭСХ НЗ РСФСР)

1993/94 – bursar of the research grant of “Maison des Scences de l’Homme”, Program Diderot (Paris);

since 1995 work for Institute of Geography, St.-Petersburg State University (НИИГ СПбГУ);

1998 – defend a thesis for a degree of Doctor of Geography “Traditional Economy of the Indigenous Peoples of the North (Problems of Geography and Social Ecology)”;

2001 – Russian Co-ordinator of international project "Sustainable Reindeer Husbandry".

- Yamalo-Nenetskiy and Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous Okrugs (1979-1982);
- Taimyr (from 1993 to 1998);
- Republic Sakha – Yakutia (1999, 2001);
- Chukotka (2000).

   Short time field researches:
Murmansckaia, Leningradskaia, Vologodskaia Oblast’s, Karelia, Nenetski Okrug, Evenkia, Yenisseiskiy District of Kranoyarskiy Kray, Alaska.
